Thandeka was introduced to therapy at the age of 14 years. While reading up about massaging, the benefits and how one can heal the entire being holistically triggered something inside of her and she knew then that she had found her calling.
She then went to study Somatology at the Durban University of Technology where she was introduced to other forms of healing like aromatherapy, reflexology and homeopathy which she fell in love with.
After completing her studies Thandeka went on to become a product specialist where she gained her experience in marketing and product formulation.
Her calling to heal was however not fulfilled so she decided to go back to therapy and joined a large hotel chain as their Supervisor and Senior Spa Therapist where she coined the name as “Healing Hands” as her clients would refer to her.
She later joined Four Seasons and was again introduced to Terres d’Afrique which she had developed a very close relationship with as she believed in their ethos and their use of African indigenous plants in healing and treatments.
“The partnership of Four Seasons and TDA made a lot of sense to me as both brands worked perfectly together and were quite innovative.”
While working at Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff she travelled and worked in other Four Seasons properties such as Mahe and Sharm el Sheik and later went on to work with Desroches, Serengeti and Anahita, where TDA was used.
“My purpose and what I would like to achieve is to promote the use of African remedies and therapies in spas around the world. I believe we have beautiful stories to tell and amazing therapies that still need to be shared with the rest of the world and I’m honored to be a part of a team that have been chosen to carry this task through. As a gifted individual I would also like to pursue my calling further and use my knowledge as part of my therapy when performing treatments.”
